It is of paramount importance that you feel safe to deeply relax. So please always let me know if something does not feel right for you. This goes for pain (points or areas may be quite tender, but downright pain only works counterproductive) and for touch and physical contact in general. Shiatsu is a clothes-on massage. Yet it can be practical, for example when palpating your abdomen or massaging a meridian on your arm, to zip open or take off a plushy sweater. Or, when treating points on the lower back or lower abdomen, to tuck the waistband of the pants down a bit. The auxiliary treatment techniques (moxibustion, cupping etc.) can only be performed directly on the skin, meaning some of the clothing will have to be rolled up or taken off. If you feel in any way uncomfortable about this, please do not hesitate to tell me so. We will find a solution together.
Meeting in advance
If you have trouble relaxing under the hands of someone you have never met before, it may help to get to know each other a little first. We could, for example, use the first consultation for the intake interview only, and leave the actual shiatsu for the second time, or only do a very short treatment to let you feel what it is like. Or we could simply talk and have a cup of tea and get acquainted. Again, it is quite vital that you should be able to feel at ease and relax, and a meeting in advance can be helpful.
